Liberal Tolerance
Liberals believe all ideas must be tolerated and respected- except for conservative ones...
The marchers and the crowd were all exercising the first amendment right. This doesn't mean a) they'd get the same reaction on another block or b) the "fingers" would support Islamic extremism.
Remember, Bloomburg is a Republican mayor of NYC into his second term. Giuliani, also Republican, was voted in multiple terms. Further up the megalopolis, Mitt Romney had four years at the helm of Massachusetts. From what I've seen, everyone has a voice east of the Hudson!
